For the past nine years Bob has been honing his vision, and has chosen some of L.A.’s finest musicians. At a young age he discovered a talent for vocal impersonations. His passions are singing, acting, voiceovers and writing movie scripts. He is excited to entertain Neil Diamond fans with the authenticity of the original recordings.

Dave Watkins
Keyboards / Musical Director

For the last ten years, Dave has been Musical Director for the Broadway shows at Moorpark College. In the early ‘90's he toured with Hank Ballard and the Midnighters as well as the World Famous Drifters. Dave studied jazz with Charlie Shoemake (from George Shearing’s band) and has arranged music for small combos under the direction of Dennon and Sayhber Rawles.

Lenny Smith Lenny Smith

Lenny Smith hails from Detroit where he began playing guitar at age eleven. Lenny’s father, who played piano and harmonica, influenced Lenny’s ability to feel what he played from his heart. This is evident on his acclaimed blues record Lenny Smith and Friends. He has toured the east coast with large show bands and brings a powerful sound to Rough Cut.

Frank Scarpelli
Bass guitar

A native of New York, Frank Scarpelli has enjoyed a career as a professional musician for more than 30 years. Coming from the New York punk scene of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s he relocated to Los Angeles in 1984. He has worked with such notable artists as Cyndi Lauper, Alanis Morissette, Kelly Clarkson, David Bowie, Steve Vai, Eric Martin, Dave Navarro, Ronnie Montrose, Coolio, Johnny Rivers as well as many others. Frank can also be heard on numerous sound tracks including most recently Saw and Underworld.

Doug MacBeth Doug MacBeth
Acoustic guitar

Doug MacBeth has a diverse musical background and is thrilled to play in Rough Cut - A Tribute To Neil Diamond. In the early '80s, Doug studied at the L.A. Jazz Workshop, and later studied bass with Carol Kaye and guitar with Al Viola (Frank Sinatra.) Doug performed with his own Jazz Combo, The Doug MacBeth Quartet, and in the '90s played in original L.A. Lounge/Punk act Hal Negro And The Satintones, opening for Bad Religion. Always a fan of the Beatles, Doug has played with the British '60s tribute band Stuart Harris And The British Invasion, and has enjoyed jamming with Harry Nilsson (singer/songwriter,) and Mitch Mitchell (drums, the Jimi Hendrix Experience.)

Keyboards and electric guitar

Tony has been entertaining audiences for over 35 years. You can find him playing polkas and singing in Italian with an accordion, or singing in Spanish while playing guitar, or rocking out on the keyboards and saxophone. He loves and plays many genres of music.

Brian Therrien Brian Therrien
Percussion / Drums

Brian has a wide musical background, growing up with a family of musicians and singers. A self-taught drummer and percussionist since age 12, he has performed at venues such as The Conejo Valley Players Theatre, Moorpark College and others. He was a regular at the Simi Valley cultural arts center from 2005-2007 performing in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Big River, Rocky Horror, Seussical and Peter Pan. He has a passion for music and brings a fun, yet focused atmosphere to the group.

Drums

A familiar face on the L.A. scene, Jon comes from the "Weird Al" Yankovic band with a welcome cleanness and professionalism. As a youth, Jon was mentored by Dennis St John (Neil Diamond’s drummer during the ‘70s) and brings just the right touch to Rough Cut’s music.
